My Experience Raising my Daughters to Speak Esperanto by Amanda Schmidt
“During my 16 months travelling via Pasporta Servo as a young woman, I was hosted by several international families, who spoke Esperanto at home. It was an amazing experience, being able to speak Esperanto to young children who fluently spoke the language. After my return, when I became a mother, I decided to speak Esperanto to my children too, and the experience was incredible — especially the two times we participated in the Meeting of Esperantist Families (REF) en Europe. Come hear why I was interested in raising my children to speak Esperanto, and what were the results. Did they have good experiences relating to the Esperanto community? How has Esperanto enriched their lives? What are their impressions of the world of Esperanto, as native speakers? Why is this effort even worth it?”
Business and Esperanto by John Huang
“The role of IKEF in the business world. Have you ever asked yourself, how Esperanto can be useful in the world of commerce? In this lecture, we will explore the relationship between Esperanto and international business, demonstrating concrete examples of its practical use in commercial interactions. We also will present the role of IKEF (The International Commercial and Economic Federation), which links Esperanto and economic platforms for the interchange of experiences. If you are interested in international commerce, language strategies, or simply wish to learn more about the economic applications of Esperanto, this lecture will give you new perspectives. Join us to discover how Esperanto can be a valuable tool in the world market!”

Panel Discussions
Is the star greener? Perspectives on life in the US and Canada; A panel discussion organized by Jed Meltzer
“The border between the US and Canada is indeed thicker than those in Europe, but a large enough number of Esperantists have succeeded in crossing it to live in both countries during parts of their lives. In this panel discussion, we invite people who have immigrated from one to the other to describe their experiences, perspectives, and opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of living in the two countries. While we plan this congress, around the inauguration of President Trump, it is an especially interesting theme due to the threats to annex Canada, sho who knows what kinds of surprises will occur between then and the time of the congress? If you would like to speak in a panel, please send an email to jedmeltzer@gmail.com. However, spectators will also have an opportunity to speak briefly and pose questions to the panellists.”
